CS-215 AI Literacy
Topic 07 · Integration + project seed

Midterm Integration StudioMake one defensible workflow visible.

The midterm is an evidence studio, not a memory contest. Diagnose one fictional workflow, frame a small project, delegate within explicit boundaries, verify a claim, revise a weak move, and defend the final human decision.

Before class

Open the Midterm Evidence Packet and bring one Topic 1–6 artifact or memory you can discuss without uploading it. The required route uses a fictional case, supplied transcript, and evidence card. No AI account, live tool, private record, or public sharing is required.

Four outcomes you can demonstrate.

The focus is judgment students can show, not vocabulary they can merely repeat.

01 · DIAGNOSE

Use four recurring questions to locate capability, evidence, permission, and accountability problems.

02 · FRAME

Choose a small Topic 8 project seed and define its problem, audience, authorized inputs, output, constraints, and human judgment.

03 · DELEGATE

Write an agent contract that separates allowed, ask-first, and prohibited actions before reviewing a supplied or optional live trace.

04 · DEFEND

Connect a claim to evidence, name a limit, revise one weak move, disclose meaningful AI use, and state the next check.

Two meetings with separate learning arcs.

Meeting 1 plans 68 taught minutes plus a 12-minute flex and access buffer; Meeting 2 plans 68 plus 12.

MEETING 1

Diagnose the Workflow and Frame the Project

Recover the course’s four-question model, complete three explicit evidence rounds on one fictional case, then choose and bound a small project seed for Topic 8.

80 MIN
  1. Purpose + plain-language mapDefine the evidence standard, clarify four technical terms, and reconstruct the model connecting Topics 1–6.
  2. Fictional case + Rounds 1–2Challenge an unsupported claim and a private-data/tool-permission decision.
  3. Round 3 + pattern discussionConnect chart/media/disclosure evidence, then identify the recurring failure pattern.
  4. Project seed + packet briefChoose the smallest defensible artifact and complete the named project-brief fields.
  5. Checkpoint + flex/access bufferPreserve three diagnosis notes and a Topic 8 project brief; no score is calculated.

MEETING 2

Delegate the Work and Defend the Evidence

Write an action contract, inspect a supplied transcript in two rounds, build an evidence chain, practice a short defense, and map every submission field to an instructor-scored rubric.

80 MIN
  1. Retrieval + agent contractRecover the four questions and separate allowed, ask-first, and prohibited actions.
  2. Trace orientation + Rounds 1–2Identify one safe move and reject one unsupported claim in a supplied agent transcript.
  3. Equal route + evidence chainConfirm that supplied and optional live routes earn equal credit, then assemble the six-stage trace.
  4. Defense + rubricUse claim/evidence/limit/next-check and apply the instructor rubric to a worked sample.
  5. Packet close + flex/access bufferConfirm accepted formats, privacy cleanup, no score gate, and the Topic 8 handoff.

Midterm Evidence Packet

Show one bounded project seed, a safe agent contract, a short trace, a verification decision, a rejected or revised move, meaningful disclosure, and a defensible Topic 8 question.

What to submit

  • Submit the completed packet through the course LMS before Topic 8. Preferred filename: Lastname-Topic07-MidtermEvidence.pdf; maximum six pages. LMS text, DOCX/export, scanned paper, or an instructor-approved accessible alternative is accepted. The LMS calendar supplies the exact date, time, timezone, late-work rule, and resubmission rule.
  • Use the course-supplied fictional case, transcript, and evidence card by default. An instructor-approved live AI route is optional, earns no extra credit, and completes the identical evidence fields. Either route can earn full marks.
  • Include three diagnosis decisions; a project brief; allowed/ask-first/prohibited agent contract with a stop trigger; short request/output evidence; one verification record; one rejected or revised suggestion; claim/evidence/limit/next-check defense; meaningful disclosure; and one Topic 8 design question.
  • Do not submit full chat histories, credentials, account/device screenshots, access proof, private student/peer/instructor records, names, grades, disability/conduct/advising facts, gradebooks, unpublished research, protected course material, fabricated citations, or unsupported claims.
  • Bring or recreate your project seed in Topic 8 regardless of packet score or completion status. The instructor—not the student—scores the five evidence criteria. There is no automatic readiness threshold or Topic 8 gate.
